Liberty Apple
Very Early--

Geneva Crab, a Red-Delicious-size crab, red skin and red striped flesh, for cider and jelly.
Red Astrakhan, an heirloom (1816) cooking apple, ripens late August, limited quantities

Early --

Chestnut Crab, a nut flavored apple, excellent for cider, ripens early September
William's Pride, all purpose, ripens early September
Big Red Gala, much bigger, rounder, usually redder than Galas and two, three weeks early, watch for early drop
MacIntosh (Stark's UltraMac), ripens early to mid September, excellent for apple sauce

Mid season --

Liberty, a disease resistant MacIntosh type, ripens late September
Gala, a popular apple here, ripens mid to late September, red with orange underlay
Imperial Gala, bigger, heavy bearers, smooth red over orange
Honeycrisp, ripens mid September, sweet-tart and juicy
Sweet Sixteen, (1937) ripens mid to late September, also sweet-tart and juicy

Whitney Crab, a lovely garnish, jelly, and cider apple, yellow tinged with red, ripens late September, limited quantities
Pound Sweet, heirloom (1932),very large, sweet, yellowish russet, ripens late September to early October
Northern Spy, heirloom (1844), large, consummate pie apple, ripens late September to early October, thin skin
Fortune, Northern Spy x Empire, said to have best qualities of both parents, ripens early October, very large
Jonathan, an heirloom variety (Philip Rick, NY, 1826), ripens early October, limited quantities, not a vigorous tree
Jonafree, (Miller), larger than the heirloom Jonathans, disease free, ripens early October
Senshu, Japan, Toko X Fuji, flavor and texture close to Fuji but ripens 5 weeks earlier

Late--

Stellar, a recent yellow green introduction, ripens mid to late October, terrific apple
Spitzenberg, an heirloom apple (1700s), ripens mid to late October
Ashmead's Kernel, an heirloom (1700s), ripens mid to late October, russet, excellent for baking and sweet cider.

This year (2008) we are bagging each of these apples to guard against cedar apple rust. It's said to produce perfect apples. We shall see!

 Melrose, (1931) Jonathan x Red Delicious, ripens mid to late October
Goldrush, a yellow-green recent introduction, excellent for pies, ripens mid to late October
Shizuka, fromJapan, a Mutsu x Golden Delicious, gold, large size, good flavor. ripens mid October, not yet bearing  

Very Late-- susceptible to early frosts

Fuji
, recent introduction, ripens late October

Newtown Pippin, an heirloom (1759) yellow, russetted apple, ripens late October, limited quantities
Splendor, Red Dougherty x Golden Delicious, a recent introduction from New Zealand, ripens late October, tart
Calville Blanc, an heirloom (1598) excellent French cooking apple, just started producing, ripens late October
Sierra Beauty, an heirloom apple, ripens early November, limited quantities
Arkansas Black, an heirloom apple, 1870, ripens early November, limited quantities
